As of 4/7/20 Old Mine Road from 3 Minute Traffic light to border of Water Gap is closed. No access from Route 80.
I-80 Westbound. Take Exit 1 off I-80. This merges onto River Road which becomes Old Mine Road. Go 1.1 miles to the parking areas. There is a large one on the left (west) and a driveway to a almost as large on on the right (east). The latter one is the Farview Parking area. Either provides parking for the Beulahland Trail. From I-80 eastbound. Take the exit for River Road. Make a sharp right onto River Road. Initially this parallels the freeway then crosses under it. The parking areas are 1.4 miles from the exit. GPS: N40.9893 W75.1276 Note The first section north of I-80 on River Road is a narrow one lane road. Flow of traffic is controlled by stop lights. --- The marker on the attached map indicates the entrance to the east lot. The west lot can be seen in the west street view from this point while the driveway to the east lot is in the south view. The yellow-blazed Beulahland Trail begins at the north end of the east parking lot. This trail is also known as the Fairview Trail and some trail signs may call it such. It climbs 550 feet in 1.3 miles to meet the AT at coordinates 40.9856 , -75.11055 . At the intersection the northbound AT goes left, the southbound goes right. Straight ahead the red-blazed Holly Spring Trail leads to the Dunnfield Creek Trail. 08/09/17 --- David Cullen --- |

12.30 miles Dunnfield Creek Natural Area |
If you are coming from the east on I-80 take what I believe is Exit 2. There is a sign for Dunnfield Creek and the Appalachian Trail at the exit. Drive down the frontage road for a short distance to the entrance to the parking area on the right.
If you are westbound on I-80, take the first exit in New Jersey which occurs just after crossing the bridge over the Delaware River. Continue on the frontage road past the Visitor Center until straight ahead there is an entrance ramp to eastbound I-80. Go left here and go back under the freeway. The road bears left again and in a few feet the entrance to the Dunnfield area parking lot is reached. --- This is a very large lot but it can be filled to overflowing on a nice fall weekend. There is overflow parking on the grass just beyond the entrance to the parking lot. If you are parking overnight Worthington State Forest would like you to fill out brief paperwork either at their office or by phone. Phone number from their website: (908) 841-9575 The northbound AT leaves from the northwest corner of the parking lot. The marker on the attached map indicates the parking area. GPS: N40.9713 W75.1255 The street view from the point in the westbound lane of I-80 directly south of the marker shows the entrance. (revalidated April 2024) --- David Cullen --- |

12.30 miles Dunnfield Creek Natural Area |
The blue line on the attached map shows the route of the AT from the point where the northbound trail leaves the i-80 bridge across the Delaware River to the entrance to the Dunfield Creek parking area. From there the trail enters the parking area, crosses Dunnfield Creek on the west side of the parking area and begins the ascent to Sunfish Pond. --- The blue line on the map is obscured by a red line indicating the route of a shuttle bus that runs between the Visitor Center and the Dunnfield Creek area. In 2018 this runs on Saturdays from Memorial Day Weekend through December. During the summer it also runs of Sundays and holidays. (revalidated parking in April 2024--but unsure of shuttle information) --- Rohland --- |

If you are westbound on I-80 and miss the exit mentioned in the previous listing continue to the next exit (Exit 1?) which is the last one before going onto the bridge across the Delaware River. You will go back under I-80 and be on the frontage road heading eastbound. Continue past the Visitor Center until straight ahead there is an entrance ramp to eastbound I-80. Go left here and go back under the freeway. The road bears left again and in a few feet the entrance to the Dunnfield area parking lot is reached --- David Cullen --- |

If traveling westbound on I-80 take the exit for Dunnfield Creek and the Appalachian Trail near the Mile 1 sign of the Interstate. In a short distance, go left under the freeway, then go right on the south frontage road (River Road?) . Continue straight ahead to the visitor center and parking on the left. --- There is ample parking at the visitor center. However this is a very popular area and the lots may fill quickly.
