From 325 to 225 the parking area is at the crest of the mountain on the right after a caution hiker's sign. GPS N40.24.718 W76.55.794 --- The parking area is off of a very dangerous section of 225 - right in the middle of a switchback. Be very careful crossing the road here as well as pulling out of it - cars are traveling at 50 mph and can't see you. Going from 225 toward Clarks Ferry it appears as if a new section of the trail has been created to accommodate a new microwave tower. This newer section is comprised of loose rocks which make it annoying to hike. --- http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=40.411967%2… --- |

3/31/2005: The pedestrian bridge on top of Peter's Mtn (Rt. 225) has been completed for a year.
The trail was relocated to avoid the microwave towers. The loose rocks were our complaint to the Mid Atlantic Crew. I had two of our trail workers put haul dirt in to fill between the rocks. However, there are still some work required. --- Jim Hooper --- |

We parked our motorhome in this lot while taking a day hike north. Upon our return while having a cup of tea in the motorhome before returning to our campground for the evening, we were harassed by a strange man. He had no shoes or shirt on and was stomping around the parking area swearing loudly and profusely that this parking area was not for campers. He was driving a late model silver/gray Pontiac Grand Am. If you encounter him, I think you should try to avoid him because he probably escaped from a mental institution. 4/14/2006 --- Rohland --- |

This is at the intersection of 322 and 147 (under the bridge). GPS N40.23.782 W77.00.451 . Rotate the street view from northwest to northeast to see the parking. Rotate to the south to see the north bound trail (look for sign). The southbound trail crosses the bridge on a pedestrian walkway. --- On a rainy October Sunday there were plenty of spots available but most were filled on Monday - probably commuters. The views from this area going north are exceptional because of river views from both sides of the trail. --- http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=40.396381%C2%B0%2C%… --- |

Hiked past this trailhead. Several cars were parked here. I would have parked here if I knew about it but it was nice to walk across the bridge anyway. It seems pretty safe. I am guessing it is a park and ride lot. (Spring 2017) 07/02/20 --- Anna Tal --- |

From Exit 67 off I-81 in Harrisburg, go north on US 22/322 for about 11 miles. Just as the highway starts to cross the bridge to Duncannon, take the exit for PA 417. The parking is on the left a short distance further. --- The trail from here north to PA 225 is reasonably rock-free. However there is about a mile stretch west (trail south) of the northern junction of the Susquehanna trail that is very rocky. The three-quarters of a mile west of PA 225 is moderately rocky. 04/03/10 --- David Cullen --- |
